Cala d'or Hotels, Majorca

The Aparthotel Sa Marina is a smart hotel with an excellent reputation. It regularly scores 5 out of 5 on reviews and many guests come back time and time again. The location is also excellent with a choice of two beaches within 500m, and just a 300m stroll to the resort centre.

This really is a hotel with something for everyone. During the day there are numerous sport-based activities around the pool to try including aqua-aerobics and water polo for adults as well as table tennis and billiards. If relaxation is what you are looking for then there is the tranquil sauna and whirlpool to enjoy. Kids have just as much going on with a well organised programme of activities at the hotel-run kids' club. They also have 2 pools to splash around in, a playground and indoor playroom. Evening entertainment is very family friendly and includes professional acts, parrot shows, bingo and live music. Guests can also use all of the facilities at the sister hotel - The Esmerelda Park, located just across the road.

The actual apartments themselves are simply decorated and spacious offering ideal family accommodation. They all have well-equipped kitchenettes, satellite TVs and air-conditioning as well as a furnished balcony or terrace. If you are self catering there are plenty of restaurants locally as well as an onsite buffet restaurant serving everything from traditional roast dinners to stir fries and salads.

This place really epitomises the chic style of boutique hotels and offers an idyllic hideaway with excellent facilities.  The elegant but understated whitewashed buildings nestle in gorgeous landscaped Mediterranean gardens with palm trees and fountains dotted around. The beautiful pool lies at the heart of the complex and is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the sun.

The Hotel Tamarix is a complex of 4 buildings which were fully refurbished in 2003. The grounds are well maintained and spacious and offer plenty of room for sports, games and relaxation. The hotel is located on the outskirts of Cala d'Or making it ideal for a peaceful holiday. The resort centre with its many shops and restaurants is around 1km away while the beautiful sandy bays Cala Serena and Cala Ferrera are only 350m away.

Facilities at the Tamarix include a swimming pool with shallow section for children, a pool bar serving snacks, as well as a sun terrace with sun loungers and parasols. There is also an indoor heated swimming pool (open from October to May) where guests can enjoy a leisurely swim out of the hot Mediterranean sunshine.  Those looking to stay active can enjoy tennis and beach volleyball as well as a gym with sauna. Diving courses are also offered as are golfing excursions.
