Cheap Holidays to Crete

Lazy days on the beach and lively nightlife are the order of the day on the beautiful island of Crete. The Island has several tourist resorts with something for everyone.

Malia and Stalis are the liveliest of the resort with many bars and clubs where you can party all night long. Both of these resorts cater very well to the British market and you will find plenty of restaurants serving traditional pub grub and all day breakfasts. These resorts also have lovely beaches where you can relax during the day or try some of the water sports if you have the energy.

Rethymnon is a popular resort with families with young children with a beautiful beach and pretty harbour surrounded by bars and restaurants. Elounda is more upmarket and is good for families and couples with a selection of exclusive hotels offering great service and a very high standard of accommodation.

It is worth exploring the Island and car hire is a good idea. There are so many beautiful beaches to discover including Bali beach which is sheltered and secluded and Ammoudara Beach which can be found just outside the town of Heraklion and is long and sandy with bright turquoise waters.

Heraklion is the capital of Crete and is well worth a visit to see the archaeological sites, pretty villages and breathtaking gorges along the coast. If you have an interest in archaeological sites then the area of Gortys is packed with important finds and excavations.

Nature lovers should take a trip to Samaria Gorge of the longest gorges in Europe and a national park. Guided trips can be taken from most resorts.
