Cyprus is very well known for it's gorgeous beaches and turquoise waters which makes this island a popular choice for a beach holiday.
There are many beaches to choose from, from the beautiful sandy beach at Larnaca Bay to Lady's Mile Beach to the West of Limassol which stretches over 7km. Cyprus actually allows all tourists to use all of the hotel facilities at any hotel so you don't have to worry about lack of facilities on the beach!
Resorts such as Ayia Napa and Limissol offer some of the best nightlife around whereas Paphos and Protaros offer a fabulous base for a relaxing holiday suited to couple and families. If you are looking for some excursions try the hot air balloon ride over Paphos or discover hidden North Cyprus with it's stunning harbour and Gothic architecture. Paphos centres around the old fishing harbour with it's restaurants and bars. It is also a cultural centre with plenty of sites and ruins. If you are looking for a beach break in Paphos then a few small sand and shingle beaches can be found.
If you are travelling to Cyprus with family then Protaras is a good option. This family orientated resort has much to offer including the finest beaches in Cyprus. Shops and bars are in abundance and you can easily reach the resort of Ayia Napa for a livlier evening if you choose.
Nissi Bay is another popular area of Cyprus. This area is situated a few km west of Ayia Napa and has fantastic sandy beaches. Nissi Bay is perfect for couples and families who want a peaceful holiday base but still close enough to the action in Ayia Napa. Limassol is a lively cosmopolitan all year round resort. Long stretches of dark sand and shingle beach are backed by many restaurants and tavernas. Limassol has a relaxed feel to the place with a selection of bars and clubs which come to life in the evening. Shopping is varied and interesting.
If you like to try different food and drink the Cyprus specialty is Mezedes which is their name for a selection of small dishes shared by the whole table. Sometimes there can be 20 or 30 different dishes and this makes for a fun and relaxed way to eat! For drinks try the "brandy sour" refreshing cocktail made from 2 local specialties Cyprus Brandy and Lemon Squash, made with Cyprus lemons.

Cyprus is one of our favourite summer holiday destinations which temperatures staying warm until late into the year. We think that families will prefer Cyprus resorts such as Protaras and Polis. For couples the area of Paphos is recommended as it has a laid back feel but with a choice if things to do in the evenings. Groups and younger crowds looking to party should head to Ayia Napa.
