Bulgaria has grown in popularity over recent years and there is a good range of accommodation to choose from including some spectacular five star hotels. There is also a good choice of budget priced accommodation and self catering apartments. The area has plenty to see and do including some wonderful ancient castles and Roman ruins. A visit to the vineyards is really worth doing as Bulgaria is now a he wine producing region and you can sample a few of the local specialities.

If beach holiday are your thing then Bulgaria is a great choice as there are miles of beautiful golden beaches which are perfect for families as there is little or no tide. The resort of Sunny Beach is the most popular resort thanks to the 6 km of golden sand. Indeed this beach is so good that it has a prestigious blue flag award. The bustling resort is lined with clubs, bars and restaurants and there are plenty of places to buy souvenirs too. If you are in to Water Sports then Paradise Beach close to the resort of Nessebar is the place to be. This gently shelving beach offers jet skiing, sailing and banana boat rides.

Golden Sands is another popular resort with a 4km beach which slopes gently down to the Black Sea. Golden Sands also has number of hot water springs to enjoy which the locals believe have healing properties. Families with young children and older visitors may prefer the resort of Sveti Vlas which has a slightly cooler climate but still plenty to see and do. The resort of Obzor is quieter and has a more tranquil feel. Based at the foot of the Stara Planina Mountains this is a beautiful resort which has a lovely little coved beach which is great for swimming and sunbathing.

This is a great holiday destination for singles, couples and families. The Black sea Riviera also has stunning scenery with dramatic cliffs and some beautiful nature reserves. If you like to get out and explore then you will find plenty to fill your days. The ancient town of Nessebur is well worth a visit and the old quarter there has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site. There are some really fantastic medieval churches to explore and stunning architecture to enjoy as well as quaint cobbled streets and a beautiful little fishing port which is a great place to enjoy a meal and a drink overlooking the black sea. There are also plenty of organised excursions on offer including jeep safaris and sailing tours.

The temperature on the Black Sea Riviera can be compared with that of the Mediterranean with hot summers and mild winters. The most popular time to visit is between June and September.
